My name is Tilde Detz-Jensen, and I am a Graduate-Examined Animal Behavior Therapist (BSc), certified as a Graduate in Applied Ethology by the Ethology Institute under the supervision of the world-renowned ethologist and evolutionary biologist Dr. Roger Abrantes, who remains a great source of inspiration. I have specialized over the years in dogs, horses, cats, and guinea pigs. I feel deeply grateful for everything I learned from the study that had been my dream since I began it in 1999, and for the work it opened up to me.

etologi.dk rests on many years of work by the Ethology Institute in Denmark, helping animals and their owners toward a better life. When the educational programs moved to Cambridge in 2009, Dr. Roger Abrantes offered me the chance to take over the institute in Denmark, its clients, the treatment of behavior problems, and the running of courses. This carried real responsibility, and I accepted it gladly, believing it mattered to continue the work that had served animals and their owners in Denmark since 1983.

As an educational provider, etologi.dk is approved as an AREP (Approved Regional Education Provider). From 2009 to 2026, I served as the Scandinavian Director of Studies, working as a tutor and conducting skills assessments. That work brought me into contact with people of many cultures and students around the world, and I learned a great deal from each of them.

Collaboration
I take great pleasure in the close collaboration with the international trainer Roberto Barata, PhD, in Human-Animal Science, who participates in teaching as a guest lecturer. Through this collaboration, I keep my own practice current, grounded in continuous study and on-field research with real cases, so that the help I offer families stays practical, up to date, and efficient.

A little more about my background
My childhood was marked by a strong connection to animals, with a pony, a rabbit, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, homing pigeons, hens, budgerigars, honeybees, ducks, and goldfishes in the duck pond. That early affection sits at the root of the study and the profession I chose. Alongside my background in animal behavior and training, I specialized in Animal Welfare Science at the Cambridge E-learning Institute, with Dr. Anabela Pinto-Poulson, where I later tutored for 3 years. I also have experience from work at equestrian centers and a horse stud, particularly in handling, horsemanship training, and training young horses for western riding. I have taken part in various street-dog projects and in studies of wild-living animals, including feral Pottoka ponies, with ethologist Lucy Rees, and I keep myself steadily up to date with the latest knowledge in my field.
